Avalanche fall to Wild in game three

Yahoo Sports

(ST. PAUL, MN) — The Avalanche finally looked human in the postseason as they lost their first game in the 2026 playoffs to the Minnesota Wild. After three days’ rest, Colorado found themselves down 2-0 at the end of the first period which only marks the third time they have trailed during these playoffs.

After a third Wild goal, Jared Benar pulled Scott Wedgewood for Mackenzie Blackwood in an attempt to find a spark for his group. The Avs did cut the lead to two with Nathan MacKinnon scoring in the second period, but it was immediately followed up by Brock Faber scoring for the Wild to restore a three-goal lead. Minnesota would end up winning 5-1 after an empty net goal late in the third period.

The Avalanche still lead the best of seven series 2-1 and will look to take one step closer to the Conference Finals on Monday in game four. Puck drop is set for 6 P. M.
