Ryle boys volleyball repeats as KHSAA Region 6 champions
The Ryle boys volleyball team won the Region 6 tournament for the second-straight season and opens the KHSAA state tournament at home on May 11.
For the second-straight season, the Ryle Raiders boys volleyball team has won a regional championship and heads to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association state tournament. Ryle swept its way through the Region 6 tournament, beating North Oldham on May 6 and Simon Kenton the next day to reach the tournament finals and securing its spot at the state bracket. The Raiders took the regional crown again by beating Oldham County, 25-16, 25-17, 25-19 on May 9.
In both seasons under KHSAA sanctioning, Ryle and Oldham County qualified for the state tournament by being regional finalists. Ryle (17-3) has won 10-straight matches entering the state tournament. The Raiders host Region 8 runner-up Powell County (12-5) at 7 p.
m. on May 11 in the first round. The winner advances to the state quarterfinals at George Rogers Clark at 11 a.
m. on May 15 against either Paul Laurence Dunbar or Louisville St. Xavier.
