đ¨ James RodrĂguez set to leave Minnesota United James RodrĂguez is set to leave Minnesota United after just three months in Major League Soccer. The Columbian star joined Minnesota in February on a short-term deal until June 30, with a club option to extend through December 2026. However, according to The Athletic's Tom Bogert and Apple TVâs Michele Giannone, Minnesota will not exercise their option.
As a result, RodrĂguez will depart the club after Wednesday's match against Colorado Rapids. The 34-year-old will immediately join Colombia's training camp, ahead of what will be his third World Cup. In his brief time with Minnesota, RodrĂguez made four appearances in MLS, scoring just once.
An earlier report from AS Colombia suggested RodrĂguez may retire after the World Cup, but the Columbian's future is still unknown.
