With rookie minicamp underway, Liam Coen shared his initial impression of new Jaguars' TE Nate Boerkircher.

With rookie minicamp taking place for the Jacksonville Jaguars , Liam Coen shared his initial impressions of several of the team's draft picks, including Nate Boerkircher, who was taken in the second round. Boerkircher was one of the top blocking tight ends in this year's draft class, ranking 22nd in PFF's run-blocking grade last season. Throughout his career, he didn't have a ton of targets, but the Jaguars like his upside as a pass-catching threat in their offense.

"You can tell he's got a common confidence about him," Coen said. "Extremely locked in in the meeting room setting. I knew some guys at Nebraska, and I've talked to some guys at A&M, and the weight room, the way he attacks things, the way that he works, very serious about his craft, very serious about playing football and getting better.

So, I think he fits right in and guys like Strange and those guys in that room already that have are workers and wired that way, I think will only help. " The addition of Boerkircher could add another level of unpredictability to Coen's offense. Boerkircher being able to affect the run and passing games allows him to fill a variety of roles, keeping defenses guessing.

The Jaguars potential usage of more heavier personnel packages, while still having the ability to create explosive plays, can create mismatches to exploit. Many draft analysts scoffed at the Jaguars taking Boerkircher at 56th overall, given where the outside world had him on the consensus board. But, as it should be, that doesn't matter to Coen.
