🥎Game of the Day Better late than never. While Smithfield softball ace Maddie Bose had an alarm-clock mishap that caused her to miss the start of Saturday’s game against Bay View, the Sentinels’ bats were more than ready for the 9 a. m.

Gianna Tutt held down the fort in the circle in the first inning, Smithfield pile on seven runs in the bottom half and Bose took control from there as the Sentinels tamed the Bengals with a 12-2 win. Fighting for a first-round home playoff game, Smithfield needed a win over Bay View to help increase its chances.

Not having Bose immediately available wasn’t idea, but she got to the game and got ready to go as Giannah Tutt was helped by a double-play ball in a clean first inning. The Sentinels put runs on the board in a hurry, as an Ava Lopez two-run double started a seven run rally that saw Mei Li Mitchell drive in a run and Joy Matteson clear the bases with a three-run double. Bose took the ball in the second inning and took control.
