President Donald Trump is back around the world's best golfers for the second weekend in a row. Trump, an avid golfer and golf fan, made an appearance during the third round of the LIV Golf Virginia event taking place at the Trump National Golf Club on Lowes Island in Sterling, Virginia, on Saturday, May 9. It occurred less than one week after he attended the final round of the PGA Tour's Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami.

JON RAHM: LIV Golf contract details, what it means for PGA Tour Trump's visit comes at a perilous moment for LIV Golf , which is attempting to secure new long-term funding after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund announced it would be pulling its financial backing of the golf league after the 2026 season as part of a strategic shift . LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neill told reporters on May 5 the emphasis will remain on team golf as the league looks to secure future investment, and that it's still finalizing a business plan without Saudi backing.
Trump has been involved in helping to find a reunification solution for professional golf since the inception of LIV Golf. Tiger Woods, PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan and PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan were among a contingent that met with Trump at the White House in February 2026 for what Monahan described as a "constructive working session" at the time. Trump expressed hope recently that the PGA Tour would welcome back LIV Golf members.
"I do believe that all of the golfers, the great golfers, should be playing against each other," Trump told reporters during a news conference on April 30 . "... I want to see Rory (McIlroy) playing Bryson DeChambeau.
