The Texas Tech football team has commitments from five national top-100 recruits for 2027. The latest is Argyle wide receiver Julian Caldwell.

The Texas Tech football program doesn't regard its first Big 12 championship and first College Football Playoff appearance as one-offs. It views those firsts as a launching point for more, and the Red Raiders ' recruiting class for 2027 is reflecting it. The Red Raiders on Saturday, May 9, picked up their fifth commitment from a national top-100 recruit when Argyle wide receiver Julian Caldwell announced for Tech.

Caldwell, listed at 6-foot and 185 pounds, was offered a scholarship by more than 40 schools, according to recruiting services, and ultimately chose Tech over Texas and Oregon. Caldwell caught 94 passes for 1,737 yards and 20 touchdowns last year as a junior. Argyle finished 12-2 with a loss to Melissa in a Class 5A Division II state quarterfinal.
