After dropping the series opener 5-3 on Friday night, Texas A&M baseball returns to Swayze Field for a doubleheader against Ole Miss on Saturday. Game 1 featured a career night from left-hander pitcher Hunter Elliott , who recorded 11 strikeouts and allowed one earned run across six innings. Elliott's performance put him third in program history with 300 career strikeouts.
While the Ole Miss lefty was carving up Texas A&M's lineup, the Rebels were teeing off on Ethan Darden, who replaced Shane Sdao in the Friday starting role. The Clemson transfer tossed one strikeout, but allowed two walks, two hits and two earned runs in his two innings on the mound for the Aggies . Texas A&M could not find its rhythm offensively against the Ole Miss pitching staff in the series opener, which consisted of Hudson Calhoun, Walker Hooks and Elliott.
Earley's club recorded seven hits and three RBIs in the effort. Right-hander Aiden Sims will have an opportunity to garner momentum for the Aggies and potentially force a rubber match in the series finale, which will begin an hour after Game 2.
