Former Denver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus is hoping to find a new home in the NFL after being released by the Green Bay Packers on Friday. This news is not terribly surprising, considering the team drafted Trey Smack out of Florida in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Green Bay is apparently confident enough with Smack's selection that they didn't even want to hold a kicking competition this summer.

McManus was signed by Green Bay in October 2024 to come in and fix the team's kicking woes. He did that. In fact, he did that so well that the team signed him to a 3-year contract extension last March.

However, he struggled at times during the season, missing six field goals, and then collapsed when it mattered most. McManus missed two field goals in the Packers ' 31-27 loss to the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card round. In two playoff games in Green Bay, McManus made just one of his four field goal attempts.
