Sunderland were the better team but could not find their way past Senne Lammens, here’s how Andy rated the lads!

(Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images) | Getty Images Robin Roefs : 7/10 Made a really important save late on to ensure he kept a clean sheet, got a little lucky after a heavy touch with a Man Utd player bearing down on him but he was a spectator for long periods. Lutsharel Geertruida : 9/10 Came in at right back and was very good, solid all afternoon defensively, good on the ball and made an impact going forward too.
Especially after the break when he was pushing up into central positions, with one such occasion seeing him strike the base of the post from a Brobbey lay-off. Nordi Mukiele: 9/10 Moved into centre back due to Ballard’s suspension and dominated back there, made a couple of timely blocks from dangerous crosses. Omar Alderete: 8/10 Another very good game by Alderete, dominant aerially, snuffed Zirkzee out of the game and linked up well with Reinildo on the ball.
Reinildo: 8/10 Gave Amad absolutely nothing to work with all game, with the former Sunderland playmaker ineffectual for most of the game. Trai Hume: 6/10 Helped out Geertruida when needed defensively and found himself in a yard of space on quite a few occasions at the other end of the pitch, his final ball was very, very poor today though. Granit Xhaka (C): 9/10 Head and shoulders above anyone else in midfield, always in the right place to win the ball back and other than missing on ball to Talbi in miles of space in the second half, always chose the right option.
Noah Sadiki: 8/10 Really should have scored early on, showed great footwork to progress the ball, carried on his run and tried to send Lammens the wrong way but the goalkeeper did well to save his effort. Played well other than that spurned opportunity though, snapping at the visitors’ feet and covered every blade of grass, as usual. Chemsdine Talbi: 7/10 Curled a shot just wide early on and was always an option out wide, was found time and time again.
