He’s a tryout player. Wasn’t listed on the roster yesterday. — Nick Farabaugh (@FarabaughFB) May 9, 2026 Windmon, a hard-hitting defender, joined the Steelers originally as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State in 2024.
He was signed to the team’s practice squad following the preseason but was poached by the Carolina Panthers. In 2025, Windmon was released by the Panthers, again signed to the Steelers practice squad, and later released. He re-signed with Carolina’s practice squad in November, until he was waived on May 7 of 2026.
Now, he’s back in Pittsburgh with a shot at a third stint with the Steelers. Windmon has appeared in nine career NFL games with one start — all with the Panthers. For his career, he has made 22 combined tackles, 1.
