The Pittsburgh Steelers have begun signing members of their 2026 NFL Draft class to rookie deals, and one of the first is the son of a former draft pick made by the team in 1998. On Friday, the Steelers announced the signing of sixth-round draft pick Gabriel Rubio, son of former NFL defensive lineman Angel Rubio, who was selected by Pittsburgh in the seventh round of the 1998 NFL Draft. Despite dealing with major injuries and missing significant time across multiple seasons, Rubio still showed a lot of promise, as evidenced by his Hispanic College Football Player of the Year watchlist selection. The Steelers signed three of their 2026 draft picks on Friday and three more on Saturday, leaving just four more players from the class to sign their rookie deals.
