Good Morning, Illini Nation: Coleman gets shot with USA Basketball
May 9—Illinois guard Quentin Coleman will make his USA Basketball debut at the U18 national team training camp that begins May 21 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The 6-foot-4 guard was one of 35 players invited to the training camp. From that group will come 12 who make the roster for the FIBA U18 AmeriCup scheduled for June 1-7 in Leon, Mexico.
Coleman's inclusion comes after a standout senior season at Principia (Mo. ), flipping his commitment from Wake Forest to Illinois, standout performances at both the Jordan Brand Classic and Iverson Classic and a rankings bump in the Class of 2026 that made him a composite five-star prospect. The U18 national team training camp roster includes 35 players across three recruiting classes.
Coleman is one of 18 players from the Class of 2026 invited, while Jaxson Davis, Davion Thompson and Reese Alston, who all hold Illinois offers, are part of a 16-strong group from the Class of 2027. Millennium (Ariz. ) guard Adan Diggs is the lone Class of 2028 representative.
Dayton coach Anthony Grant is also the U18 national team coach. He'll be assisted by Colgate's Matt Langel and Alabama's Nate Oats. The training camp will also include instruction from Missouri's Dennis Gates, Oakland's Greg Kampe, Michigan's Dusty May and Liberty's Ritchie McKay.
