Justin Thomas claims Rory McIlroy hit a shot nobody else on Tour could at Quail Hollow on Friday

And since then, both players have gone on to win two majors each – two PGA Championships for the American and two Masters for the Northern Irishman.

And the feeling is very much mutual. McIlroy has praised Thomas on numerous occasions for his impact on the popularity of the PGA Tour, and indeed the professional game in general. However, Thomas believes that McIlroy really is a class apart from the rest.

And while talking about McIlroy’s win at Augusta National, he made a comment on a shot that the Northern Irishman hit on the par-five 15th hole at Quail Hollow. “Yeah, you know, it’s a place that suits Rory (Augusta National),” Thomas said.
