Derry 'not clinical enough' - Lynch

Derry City manager Tiernan Lynch said his side are "not being clinical enough" after their 1-0 defeat by Drogheda at Sullivan and Lambe Park.

Derry City manager Tiernan Lynch said his side are not being clinical enough after their 1-0 defeat by Drogheda United at Sullivan and Lambe Park. The Candystripes failed to create many opportunities with the home side claiming the three points thanks to Ryan Brennan's penalty on 55 minutes. The result puts to an end Derry's six-game unbeaten run with the side fifth in the table, six points behind Bohemians who currently occupy the third European spot.

"It was very hard to be critical of them tonight but ultimately the result is what everybody's going to look at," Lynch told BBC Sport NI. "We're actually getting into really good areas but we're not being clinical and that's hugely frustrating for us. "We tried to get everybody on the pitch tonight that's actually been scoring goals and try to be as positive as we can, and I thought for long periods we get into the areas, but that final piece is missing.

" Derry have had a challenging start to the season and have won just four of their opening 16 games and have registered seven draws. "We have to start winning games, we know that," he continued. "We're not sugar coating that.

We were unbeaten there for six games, but we need to start winning them. "We need to start putting our dominance in the wins and in the goals and that's hugely frustrating. "
