UCLA Baseball Ties Big Ten Record With 27 Straight Conference Wins
It has been nearly a full year since a Big Ten team has taken down UCLA baseball. The last time the Bruins lost to a conference opponent was on May 25, 2025 when they lost 5-0 to Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament championship game. It has been even longer since UCLA has lost a regular season conference game.
Northwestern defeated UCLA in the series opener of the final regular season conference series of the 2025 season on May 15, 2025. On Friday, No. 1 UCLA beat No.
13 Oregon 11-1 in the series opener at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The first two wins of the winning streak were against Northwestern in the final regular season conference series in 2025. Now, UCLA is one win away from setting a new Big Ten record for consecutive conference wins.
Illinois has held the record since before UCLA was founded when the Fighting Illini won 27 games across the 1909-1911 seasons. UCLA was founded eight years later in 1919, and the baseball program was founded nine years later in 1920. UCLA will have a chance to claim the record when it plays the second game of the series against Oregon on Saturday.
