PGA Tour Champions fan favorite John Daly withdrew from the Insperity Invitational after three holes, citing ongoing injury battles.

John Daly withdrew from the PGA Tour Championsโ€™s Insperity Invitational near Houston on Friday. Daly, 60, played three holes before pulling out of the tournament being contested at the Woodlands Country Club. In 2017, Daly won the Insperity, his lone victory on the Champions Tour.

Daly is a two-time major winner on the PGA Tour and a fan favorite. Heโ€™s been battling injuries for the last few years on the senior circuit. This was his fifth start of the season.

He missed the cut at the Senior PGA Championship and finished 71 st at the Regions Tradition. His best finish this season is a T-21 at the Hoag Classic. In other tournament news, Robert Karlsson (T-11) made a hole-in-one on the par-3 14th hole, and rookie Ben Crane birdied six of his first 10 holes en route to an opening 7-under 65.
