Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but who saw this coming from the brother of the world number four, Matt Fitzpatrick? Alex Fitzpatrick earned his PGA Tour card playing alongside his brother, Matt, at the Zurich Classic. The consensus was that while Alex played his part, Matt was the driving force of that team, and he earned his brother’s card.
Can we be so sure now? Alex made his Signature Event debut last week at the Cadillac Championship and immediately proved that he’s well within his depth, recording a top 10 finish at Doral. And at this week’s Truist Championship at Quail Hollow, he’s carried that form over.
Through two rounds, Fitzpatrick is T3 at seven-under par. He’s nine shots better than his brother in the same event, and one behind Tour Championship winner Tommy Fleetwood! Speaking after his second round, Fleetwood spoke about how impressed he’s been with the PGA Tour’s newest member.
