Shrewsbury put Clucas and Anderson up for sale

Shrewsbury make four players, including Sam Clucas and Tom Anderson, available for transfer, with skipper John Marquis among 10 others released.

Midfielder Sam Clucas and defender Tom Anderson are among four players being made available for transfer by Shrewsbury Town. Clucas, 35, scored twice in 40 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign, while Anderson, 32, played 35 games as Town finished 19th in League Two. Forwards Ricardo Dinanga and Callum Stewart have also been told they can find new clubs following non-league loan spells during the season.

Captain John Marquis, meanwhile, is one of 10 players to be released by the club when their contracts expire. Marquis, 33, scored six goals in 43 appearances this season, having joined Shrewsbury from Bristol Rovers in 2024. Also departing is former Portsmouth midfielder Anthony Scully, who scored five goals in 35 games, along with Mal Benning, Harrison Biggins, Alex Gilliead, Nick Freeman, Jack Loughran, Isaac Godwin, Karsten Cairns and Joe Morris.

Left-back Benning, 32, had been with Shrewsbury since 2023 and played 21 times this season. Defenders Luca Hoole and Josh Ruffels and midfielder Taylor Perry are considering new deals offered by the club. Defender Benning leaving Salop at end of season
