L ast season, as you may recall, until he injured his knee last December, former Blue Devil Jared McCain was on track to be the surprise Rookie of the Year in the NBA. He got injured again in September, this time a hand rather than his knee, and Philadelphia, feeling it had a crowded backcourt, traded him to Oklahoma City. Now, the Thunder have a crowded backcourt too.
However, talent usually rises, and in the playoffs, McCain is beginning to rise. So far, in the 2-0 series with the Los Angeles Lakers, McCain has scored a total of 30 points. He’s done that while shooting 11-18 overall and 8-10 from behind the line, in 33 total minutes.
If he maintains this, OKC is going to be very difficult to beat. It looks like the Thunder made a deal that has really helped their team. As for Philly, you can’t say yet: they got one first-round pick and three second-round picks for McCain.
