Joe Cole has done an interview with the Sun today where he suggested a retro choice as Chelsea’s new manager: “The best move the club could make now, a realistic move as well, is to go to Jose Mourinho,” Cole said.
“Say that this is what we can do, and just let the man take charge of the club. Just say, ‘rebuild my club for me, we’re going to step back, you get us back on track. '” Mourinho no longer a crazy idea for Chelsea It may be a sign of how badly things are going at Chelsea at the moment that this doesn’t seem like the worst idea.
Sure, he’s far from the cutting edge these days. But he’d have the respect of the players and the love of the fans. If you’re looking for someone to establish a base level, we’re pretty sure he could deliver you regular top 6 finishes, something which would have been a sacking offence when he was at the club before, but would now be an improvement.
Sadly, both staying at Benfica or moving to Madrid look a better option for the veteran coach right now.
