Man United top 2025/26 improvement table as Carrick inspires +22 swing; Liverpool, Wolves slump by -24 The ambition for every Premier League team is to improve on the season prior, but which clubs have had the biggest improvement in 2025/26? Manchester United secured Champions League qualification with a 3-2 win over Liverpool last weekend, with the Red Devils rising rapidly under interim boss Michael Carrick. United finished 15th last season, the club's lowest league position of the Premier League era, but are guaranteed a top-five finish this season.

Unsurprisingly, United lead the division for points difference compared to the same stage as last season (+22 points). Manchester City are the second-most improved team (+12), despite trailing Arsenal in the title race, while Everton (+9) complete the top three. Remarkably, there are currently only five ever-present Premier League teams with a positive points improvement from last season.

At the other end, champions Liverpool have had the joint-biggest decline in points won (-24) after 34 games played. Only Wolves , relegated with five games to spare, can match that unwanted record. Liverpool lost just four times during their title-winning season, but have already suffered 11 defeats this season.

That duo are among four teams who are 20+ points worse off than at the same stage in 2024/25. Both Newcastle United (-20) and Nottingham Forest (-21) have struggled to match last season's level. West Ham are the only side in the league to have a zero change from last season.
