Liverpool vs. Chelsea, Premier League: Preferred lineup

LONDON, ENGLAND - APRIL 18: Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea talk during the Premier League match between Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on April 18, 2026 in London, England. (Photo by Chelsea Football Club/Chelsea FC via Getty Images) | Chelsea FC via Getty Images Chelsea are set to show up at Anfield today with zero recognized wingers in the squad, which is going to require some creative tinkering from interim head coach Calum McFarlane. We do have a few players yet who have played the wide attacking positions at times, including of course Cole Palmer (right) and Enzo Fernández (left), but there’s also Liam Delap (at least one rather poor showing on the right wing) and Malo Gusto (used to invert all over the place under Enzo Maresca), and maybe even some fresh faced from the Academy.

For the WAGNH Community, it might be the services of Andrey Santos that may be required in attack. It’s between him, Roméo Lavia, and Jorrel Hato for the final two spots in the starting XI. And though technically Hato did edge out Lavia in the voting, 45-43, there’s no easy way to fit him in with all the other defenders in a back-four.

We could of course switch to a back-three, but that idea received only 24 per cent of the vote. 4-2-3-1 (51%) Jörgensen (82%) | Cucurella (78%), Colwill (58%), Chalobah (73%), James (65%) | Lavia (43%), Caicedo (95%) | Enzo (92%), Santos (50%), Palmer (94%) | João Pedro (98%) Those just missing out include Josh Acheampong (38%), Liam Delap (35%), and Malo Gusto (34%). Trailing a bit further behind were the likes of Wesley Fofana (23%), Ryan Kavuma-McQueen (21%), Marc Guiu (18%), and Mamadou Sarr (14%).

All others received support in the single-digits.
