SEC Softball Tournament: Alabama Grills the Gators

Yahoo Sports

The Crimson Tide advances to the SEC Tournament Finals against Texas.

ALABAMA 9, FLORIDA 1 (5 Innings) It was a shaky start for Bama starter Vic Moten as she walked the first two batters. [To be honest, the ball/strike calls were a bit questionable. ] However, she came back to strike out the next three Gators swinging.

UF coach Tim Walton made an unusual choice of starting Leah Stevens who had mostly been used out of the bullpen and not in big moments too often. Alabama loaded the bases against the Gator but three Tide players struck out to end the threat. But that good fortune would not last.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Moten repeated her performance from the first frame by walking the first two batters. But again, she got out of the jam. To lead off the bottom of that inning, Ambrey Taylor smoked a ball off the scoreboard to take an early 1-0 advantage.
