Brandon Lockridge carted off after sliding into outfield wall
Brandon Lockridge had to be carted off the field in the fourth inning after sliding into the wall down the left-field line.
A scary collision with the wall down the left-field line resulted in an early, unplanned exit from the Milwaukee Brewers ' Brandon Lockridge in the team's interleague matchup against the New York Yankees at American Family Field on Friday night, May 8. Lockridge, playing left field, was injured as he was attempting to run down a slicing fly ball off the bat of Cody Bellinger with two outs in the fourth inning. As Lockridge neared the wall, he dropped down into a slide but didn't do so soon enough, and his momentum carried him into the wall at nearly full speed with his right knee taking the brunt of the blow with the concrete, unpadded portion.
Lockridge remained down on the warning track for some time before being helped to his feet and eventually onto a cart that took him off the field. There was no immediate report from the Brewers regarding Lockridge's potential injury. Lockridge had been productive to that point in the game, with singles and runs batted in each of his first two times up against Yankees starter Max Fried.
He's hitting . 294 with 12 RBI in 28 games this season. Jackson Chourio slid over from center field to left to replace Lockridge, and Garrett Mitchell was inserted into the game in center.
