The Montreal Canadiens needed to bounce back. They didn't waste much time on Friday night in Buffalo. In a bit of a reversal of Game 1, Game 2 was all about Canadiens from the beginning, scoring early and racing to a 5-1 win over the Sabres.
It's a crucial victory for Montreal, which evens this Eastern Conference semifinal series up at a game apiece as it now heads up north for a couple games. Alex Newhook scored a pair of goals for the Canadiens, including the first one. It was his first career multi-goal game in the playoffs.
For the Sabres, it plays out a lot like their first round series against the Boston Bruins , in which they had an exciting win in the first game and then lost the second one. That series worked out for Buffalo. Right now, though, the Canadiens will be feeling all the good vibes.
