UCLA Softball Dominates Big Ten End-of-Season Awards
UCLA softball dominated the Big Ten end-of-season awards on Friday, with a conference-leading five All-Big Ten First Team selections. The Bruins also had three All-Big Ten Second Team selections, three Big Ten All-Freshman Team selections and two All-Defensive Team selections. The five First Team honorees were senior infielder Jordan Woolery, senior utility Megan Grant, freshman infielder Bri Alejandre, redshirt freshman infielder Aleena Garcia and sophomore outfielder Rylee Slimp.
Woolery and Grant are the 10th and 11th players in UCLA program history to be named first-team all-conference selections in all four seasons of their careers. Sophomore infielder Kaniya Bragg, redshirt junior catcher Alexis Ramirez and senior pitcher Taylor Tinsley were named Second Team honorees this season. Alejandre, Garcia and utility Jolyna Lamar were selected for the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
Garcia and Ramirez also earned two of the nine spots on the conference’s All-Defensive Team. Woolery Wins Big Ten Player of the Year Woolery was in a tight race with Grant for the Big Ten Player of the Year Award. Big Ten Network’s Sydney Supple even suggested that the conference name the pair Co-Big Ten Players of the Year .

500+, hit 30+ home runs and 100+ RBIs in a single season. Entering the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament on Friday, Woolery has hit 33 home runs and 106 RBIs while averaging . 509 at the plate.
