Direct promotion and playoff picture Venezia already celebrated promotion to Serie A last week after drawing away to Spezia. Frosinone are 3 points ahead of Monza, so Massimiliano Alvini’s side only need a draw against Mantova to be certain of promotion. Palermo, Catanzaro, Modena, and Juve Stabia are already guaranteed a playoff spot, while the final place is being contested by five teams: Avellino, Cesena, and Mantova on 46 points, and Carrarese and Sampdoria on 44.
Relegation and playout picture With just one match left, no team has been relegated yet. The fate of Reggiana, Spezia, and Pescara, however, is hanging by a thread. A single point for Bari against Catanzaro would be enough to condemn the three sides currently on 34 points to Serie C.
The Biancorossi themselves have very little chance of avoiding the relegation playoffs even if they win. Empoli, Südtirol, and Entella are the other three teams at risk of a playout. It should be remembered that if Bari lose and the other three win, there would be no post-season at all: a 5-point gap would open up between 17th and 16th place, and under the rules, in that case the bottom four are relegated.
