We’re able to raise a bunch of money for our foundation through auctions and ticket sales. ” Smith and his wife founded Catching Hope in 2021 to help support underserved, low-income children around the Los Angeles community. Smith said the foundation was recently able to provide funding for mental health resources for students impacted by the Pacific Palisades fires that happened in January 2025.
“Catching Hope has been around for a few years now,” Smith said, per MLB . “Our goal is to raise funding for kids through education and their schools. We created some reading nooks at a couple of elementary schools here.
We provide Amazon wish lists for teachers. ” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was happy to see Smith’s teammates attend the event. Roberts explained how their support for Smith on an off-day shows the close bond and culture of the Dodgers.
