4 Sooners earn All-SEC first-team honors

Oklahoma Sooners earn 4 All-SEC first team selections, Wells earns Freshman of the Year award.

The SEC announced its all-conference awards on Friday morning, and the Oklahoma Sooners were well represented with the most selections of any team in the conference. Gabbie Garcia, Ella Parker, Kai Minor, and Kendall Wells earned All-SEC first team selections, while Abby Dayton, Isabela Emerling, and Audrey Lowry were selected to the second team. Garcia and Parker were named to the All-SEC defensive team.

Wells also earned SEC Freshman of the Year. Kendall Wells has put together a historic season for the Sooners, setting the record for most home runs in a season for an SEC freshman, most home runs by an Oklahoma Sooner, and is on the verge of breaking the NCAA single-season home run record, a mark that's stood for more than 30 years. She's hit 36 home runs to go along with 79 RBIs.

She's hitting . 393 on the year and has been excellent at shortstop with just four errors on 128 chances this season. Parker is also having the best year of her three-year career at Oklahoma.
