Tsimikas’ Loan at Roma: A Mixed Experience During his time at Roma, Tsimikas made just 18 appearances in Serie A. He often found himself sidelined or out of the starting XI, as manager Gian Piero Gasperini alternated his defensive line-up. Despite some positive performances, the Greek international was not consistently trusted to hold down a regular spot in the side.
His loan term included moments of uncertainty regarding his future, particularly when Liverpool considered bringing him back in January. Talks between the two clubs stalled, however, and Roma ultimately decided to retain Tsimikas for the remainder of the season. When asked about the potential challenge of another transition in the squad, Slot confirmed that Tsimikas would return from his loan spell: “One player probably replaced by Kostas Tsimikas who is coming back off loan. ” For Slot, the prospect of integrating Tsimikas back into the fold is not a cause for concern.
