Man City boss Andree Jeglertz on the future of star striker Bunny Shaw Manchester City Women boss Andree Jeglertz has expressed his hope that Khadija “Bunny” Shaw will sign a contract extension amid rumours of a move to Chelsea. This has been a seismic week for Manchester City Women, crowned champions of the Women’s Super League (WSL) for the first time in 10 years, thanks to Arsenal’s draw with Brighton. They now also have a chance to get a step closer to a domestic double with an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

However amidst the triumph and celebrations, the possible departure of one of their main stars casts a sour note. Bunny Shaw, currently the WSL top scorer with 19 goals, is poised to leave City at the end of the season as her contract expires. Talks have reportedly stalled between Shaw and Man City, with Chelsea emerging as the frontrunners to sign the Jamaican striker on a free transfer.

Head coach Andree Jeglertz, who steered the club to their league triumph, expressed his hope that the player would remain with City, who still have one league match remaining against West Ham, along with one or two in the FA Cup. “I still hope she’s signing a new contract for Manchester City, definitely,” Jeglertz said on Friday. “But that’s more of a discussion for Therese [Sjogran, director of football] and for people in the club.

“I think right now Bunny Shaw is our player, and she’s here to compete with us and do everything she can this week that we have left of the season. What happens after that is a discussion, not for me to talk about. It’s more for Therese and other people that are communicating with her,” he added.
