Bournemouth's Álex Jiménez being investigated over social media posts.
Premier League club Bournemouth has dropped defender Álex Jiménez and is launching an investigation into social media posts allegedly involving Jiménez. "AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back, Álex Jiménez," the club said in a statement on Friday, May 8. "The club understand the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated.
"As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham and the club will be making no further comment at this time. " Bournemouth took the 21-year-old on loan from AC Milan last summer, agreeing to a permanent deal in February that would keep him in England through 2031. Bournemouth’s manager, Andoni Iraola, addressed the situation during his pre-match media availability on Friday.
“The club has to do their investigations and see what has really happened,” he said. “We will then move from there. I hope it’s not what we think.
” Deployed mainly as a fullback, Jiménez has appeared for Spain's youth national teams. Born in Madrid, Jimenez spent a decade playing in Real Madrid's youth setup, eventually playing for the Galacticos ' reserve team. He was sold to AC Milan in 2023.
