In tune with: Jonathan Tah and the rhythm of success ADVERTISEMENT: In the world of professional football, mental preparation is often just as crucial as training on the pitch. In the second episode of our “Sounds Around Football” series by Sonos and OneFootball, FC Bayern Munich centre-back Jonathan Tah offers a deep insight into his very personal source of motivation: music. He uses sounds that push and motivate him to give everything.

For him, it is above all about emotional stability: “Nothing can stop you, you are strong, you can do anything, you were made for this,” he describes as his inner mantra. For Tah, music is far more than just background noise. It is a tool to get into “the mode.

” During his workouts, he uses his entire Sonos system, now also with the Sonos Play, and calls it the “perfect sparring partner,” whether indoors or outdoors: “And the sound is just top. ”= In moments of maximum pressure, for example before matches, it helps him stay “calm under pressure. ” To reach this level of concentration, he combines his Sonos Play with Sonos headphones.

Thanks to noise cancelling, he can completely block out the outside world and immerse himself deeply in his music – a decisive factor in staying focused in front of the Allianz Arena crowd. Rhythm on and off the pitch Tah’s connection to music runs deep. The defender is a passionate drummer.

He used to play in church and in his community, and today he has his own drum kit at home in Munich. “If my life were a sound right now, it would be drums,” says Tah. He sees striking parallels between his hobby and his profession.
