4 things to watch for at Colts' 2026 rookie minicamp

Yahoo Sports

With Indianapolis Colts' rookie minicamp underway, here are four things to watch for in the coming days.

Rookie minicamp is set to get underway for the Indianapolis Colts on Friday. The two-day event will take place from May 8-9. Those participating in rookie minicamp will include the Colts ' eight draft picks, 12 undrafted rookies, and there may be some returning players as well, who have not accrued a full season, and some tryout candidates.

There will be a non-contact practice or two that take place, but beginning to learn the playbook and how to go about an NFL practice are important aspects of rookie minicamp as well. Let's take a look at what we should be on the lookout for as the next few days unfold. Where is Jalen Farmer lining up?

Farmer played right guard at Kentucky, but GM Chris Ballard believes he has the skill set to play tackle as well. Do the Colts give Farmer reps there right away or start him out where he's most comfortable? Wherever Farmer ends up seeing the bulk of his snaps come from could tell us whether it will be Matt Goncalves or Jalen Travis that he will push for playing time.

AJ Haulcy's versatility The Colts do not view Haulcy as just a box defender at the safety position, but as another versatile presence in the secondary for Lou Anarumo to move around. Haulcy played for three different schools, which means being in three different schemes, and at each stop, he picked up the new defense quickly, and hit the ground running. This could allow the Colts to put more on his plate right away as he fills different roles early on.
