A strong start helps Lutcher post a game one victory over Rayne Thursday night

LUTCHER, La. โ€” No. 3 Lutcher defeated No.

7 Rayne 6-2 Thursday night in game one of their Division II Non-Select semi-final series. The Bulldogs gained a three-run advantage in the bottom of the first inning after a Bryson Keller RBI double, an Eric St. Pierre RBI single, and an RBI groundout from Dalton St.

Pierre. The Wolvesโ€™ offense was held in check by Lutcher starting pitcher Cameron DeRoche, who struck out eight in the first four innings. Lutcher would add two more runs in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of a 2-RBI double from Eric St.

Pierre. The Bulldogs would carry a 6-0 lead into the seventh and final frame, where the Rayne would score two runs, but their rally would fall short. Lutcher is one win away from the Division II Non-Select championship series in Sulphur.
