Angels Have Pitching Reinforcements Coming, But Will They Help Beleaguered Staff?

Yahoo Sports

The Los Angeles Angels will welcome back Kirby Yates and Alek Manoah, but no one knows if they can actually help.

The Los Angeles Angels are getting some new pitchers, but it’s an open question as to whether they’ll actually help their pitching staff. Reliever Kirby Yates actually warmed up in the ninth of the Halos 8-2 win over the Chicago White Sox, and now Alek Manoah is on the way after completing his rehab assignment at Single A Rancho Cucamonga. Manoah says he’s ready to go, despite allowing six runs, five of them earned, in 4-1/3 innings of work.

It’s not unusual for pitchers to get hit around a little in the minors, but that’s more than a little, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out when Manoah pitches in his first game since May of 2024. “It feels great,” Manoah said in an update written by Rhett Bollinger of MLB. com .

“It's been 688 days since my surgery. So just excited to be here. It's been a fun journey.

I'm thankful for all the ups and downs and everything in between. So just happy to be active. ” Manoah was signed on the cheap, like many Angels pitchers, for a one-year $1.
