LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – First year head coach Ryan Silverfield was honored as the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arkansas Leader of the Year at the Pleasant Valley Country Club Thursday. The annual luncheon raises money for the organization’s five clubs around Little Rock and North Little Rock.

Coach Silverfield says it is an honor to be recognized before ever even coaching a game on the Hill and hopes to model some parts of the football program after the Boys and Girls club. “The number one factor of any leader is to serve. We talk about it all the time.

It’s my job and all of our coaches jobs and anybody that comes in contact with not only our student athletes but all the young people we have an opportunity to impact on a day to day and anyone we come in contact with,” Silverfield said. Later in the event, Coach Silverfield was joined by legendary former Razorback Darren McFadden, and he touched on how one of his biggest priorities so far is reconnecting former players with the program. “A tremendous man,” Silverfield said.

“You know I think everyone talks about the relationships that we are forming with former Razorback players and obviously he’s a legend and we got his pictures all over his trophies. You know I had so much respect for him as a player and to now have the opportunity to get to know him better as a person, he’s been tremendous. Listen for me to just be in the same room as him and his presence.

We’ve become friendly and had great communication, and he’s talked about getting back up to Fayetteville to spend more time with our team. ” Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
