Browns set to pursue Brendan Sorsby? Not so fast says ESPN insider

•Yahoo Sports

While ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi said the Browns were doing work on Brendan Sorsby, another ESPN insider throws cold water on the rumor

While the Cleveland Browns spent a sixth round pick on Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, they were rumored to have interest in another today. ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi reported that the Browns were looking into former Cincinnati Bearcats' quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who could be bound for the supplemental draft. Given a gambling scandal that has put Sorsby's college eligibility in jeopardy, the NFL may have to hold the supplemental draft for the first time since 2023.

Despite rostering four quarterbacks already, the Browns do not have a long-term answer, and given the immense tools of Sorsby, another dart thrown is not out of the question as he fits the athletic ability and arm talent that head coach Todd Monken has preached. However, while Grossi has stated that Browns are doing their homework, another NFL insider has rebuffed those claims. Peter Schrager has stated the Browns are interested in their current room and the current battle between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders.

What Schrager had to say on the Browns and Brendan Sorsby Here is the full quote from ESPN's Schrager, who appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to discuss the potential of the Browns adding another quarterback via the supplemental draft: "This is an interesting deal because there will be interest in him in the supplemental draft... as far as the Browns go... I'm told, from the Browns right now, Sorsby's name has not been in the conversation.

Rather, they're focused on what they have in-house at the moment. " "There will be interest in Brendan Sorsby in the supplemental draft.. I'm told that the Browns are focused on Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders right now" @PSchrags #PMSLive pic.
