It seems as though the change was met with open arms by even the most die-hard baseball purists, as the near-daily headlines about the new officiating change disappeared as the season waged on. Baseball fans now have their first month of data to examine how each team has implemented the change into their game plan. As it turns out, no team in the league is utilizing the ABS as little as the Boston Red Sox .
Boston has challenged a total of just 45 times in 37 games. Batters have challenged 24 calls. They have won 11 and lost 13, putting them in the middle of the pack as far as success rate is concerned.
For reference, the New York Yankees are tied for the second-most challenges at the plate with 45. Their success rate is similar. The Red Sox aren't simply "saving" their challenges for the defense either.
