Sisco/UPI May 7 (UPI) -- The Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Bulldogs agreed to cancel their football series in 2027 and 2028, citing conference schedule mandates, they announced Thursday. The Seminoles and Bulldogs are discussing a neutral site for a matchup on the heels of canceling the home-and-home series. ACC and SEC officials announced last year that the conferences will play nine-game league schedules, increasing the difficulty of scheduling non-conference games.

"Georgia and Florida State have mutually agreed it is in the best interest of both schools to cancel our home-and-home series scheduled for 2027 and 2028, with the focus shifting to a future neutral site contest between the two programs," Bulldogs athletic director Josh Brooks said. "While we are still early in the process regarding neutral-site plans, we remain optimistic and look forward to further conversations with Florida State. " The Seminoles and Bulldogs announced the series in 2019.

The Bulldogs, who have a 7-4-1 record against the Seminoles, last played them in 2023. They won that game 63-3. They also beat the Seminoles in 2002.
