Patriots QB Drake Maye calls Mike Vrabel a ‘great human being’
Drake Maye continues to show support for Patriots coach Mike Vrabel in wake of New York Post Page Six scandal.
Drake Maye, who took part in the Truist Championship Pro-AM at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina, stopped for an interview with AP and went to bat for Mike Vrabel. The Patriots quarterback referred to Vrabel as being “a great human being” and said he doesn’t believe the coach’s off-field issues will be a distraction for the upcoming season. “No, I don’t,” Maye said Wednesday.
“I mean, he’s our head coach. I think he’s done a great job of talking to us and talking us through it. I’m just looking forward to getting back to work and getting ready.
” Vrabel has been embroiled in an off-field scandal since the New York Post published photos of him last month with the Athletic’s former NFL insider Dianna Russini at an Arizona resort. The Patriots coach has tacitly acknowledged wrong-doing in the matter. “I take accountability for my actions and the actions that caused a distraction to the people that I care most about— my family, this football team, the organization and our fans,” Vrabel said before Day 1 of the NFL Draft.
“My previous actions don’t meet the standard that I hold myself to. They don’t. ” BETTING: The Patriots are +150 on DraftKings to win the AFC East next season.
