The Golden State Valkyries have waived  Kate Martin , the team announced Thursday, May 7. The news comes as the Valkyries were set to open the 2026 season on Friday, May 8, against the Seattle Storm. The former Iowa women's basketball star joined Golden State in the team's 2024 WNBA expansion draft ahead of its first season in 2025 after spending her rookie season with the Las Vegas Aces.
