FSU, Georgia agree to cancel home-and-home series
The FSU Seminoles and Georgia Bulldogs have canceled their upcoming home-and-home series. They are working to play a neutral game.
The Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Bulldogs have agreed to cancel the schools' upcoming home-and-home series, FSU announced on Thursday. The games were scheduled for 2027 and 2028, with the Seminoles hosting in 2027. "As we considered the effects of evolving scheduling mandates within both the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference, we have mutually agreed that it is in the best interest of both schools to cancel our home-and-home series scheduled for 2027 and 2028," FSU Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said.
"We are now discussing playing a future neutral-site contest, and we are optimistic we will get that done. Importantly, this change will not reduce the total home games on our schedule moving forward. " FSU also announced that the two sides are in talks to play a neutral site game "soon.
" Georgia has not commented on the news. One of the major differences between now and when the teams agreed to the matchup is that both the ACC and SEC will be requiring their teams to play nine-game conference schedules moving forward. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 7-4-1, with the most recent matchup being the 2023 Orange Bowl.
