Masai Ujiri had kind words for Cooper Flagg earlier this week after being introduced to the Dallas media as the Mavericks new president.

Masai Ujiri, the new president of the Mavericks, spoke to the Dallas media for the first time since being hired earlier this week. As many expected, Ujiri was asked to address the infamous trade that sent Luka Doncic from Dallas to Los Angeles. While Ujiri acknowledged Doncic and his talents, he assured Mavericks fans that the franchise wouldn't take a similar path with cornerstone Cooper Flagg.

"Lukaโ€™s a Hall of Famer, a future Hall of Famer, and thatโ€™s the best. In Africa, we always say, โ€˜When kings go, kings come,โ€™ and a king went [Luka], and we have a little prince [Cooper Flagg] here now. Heโ€™s turning into a king, and I think we have to start thinking that way.

" With this new line of thinking, it's no secret that Ujiri will be working hard to build around Flagg in hopes of a championship run. If Flagg were to lead the Mavericks to a championship title, he'd cement himself in team history alongside NBA Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki, who helped earn the franchise their first title in 2011.
