Yankees news: Pitcher who ‘threw guts out’ scratched; Aaron Judge on record pace

NEW YORK — Feeling sick from start to finish, left-hander Ryan Weathers somehow gave the Yankees a pretty decent five-inning, three-run start in last Sunday’s win over the Orioles. “Then I just went home and pretty much threw my guts out for several hours,” Weathers said Wednesday night after the Yankees announced his Thursday afternoon start is off. Weathers started feeling better by Tuesday, but his next start has been pushed back to Monday in Baltimore.
“It was a viral infection,” he said. “It stinks when the doctor kind of gives you a shoulder shrug like we can’t really give you anything. You just have to let it pass.
” Weathers had to be scratched because his between-starts throwing was disrupted by his illness. “I thought I just had food poisoning,” he said. “I woke up (Monday) and was running 102 temp and I was just pretty much bedroomed for a couple days.
And then (Wednesday’s) the first full day I’ve been back around the team. Obviously, I didn’t want to spread it around everybody. ” For Thursday’s series finale between the Yankees and the Rangers, the over/under is listed at 8.
