Bleacher Report names Chiefs, Cowboys potential Alvin Kamara suitors
With the Saints backfield crowded after signing Travis Etienne Jr., Alvin Kamara could be a trade candidate as the team takes issue with his contract.
The New Orleans Saints appear to be entering a new era in their offensive backfield . As a result, Alvin Kamara, one of the greatest running backs in franchise history, might be the odd man out. Despite the Saints' big splash signing earlier this offseason, giving standout running back Travis Etienne Jr.
a four-year, $48 million contract, Kamara has maintained a desire to play in New Orleans. Speaking recently on The Set podcast with Terron Armstead , the five-time Pro Bowl running back expressed a willingness to share a workload with Etienne in 2026. "I'm excited to see what we could do together," Kamara said.
"That's the name of the game, shoot. Depth — one person can't do it by themselves, so I'm cool with it, man. " The backfield — and the front office — is at a crossroads with what will happen ahead of the season.
The team has Etienne, Kamara, recent draft picks Devin Neal and Kendre Miller, and Audric Estime, who ran hard late last season. They've also signed former Ohio State running back CJ Donaldson to an undrafted free agent deal and will host South Carolina's Rahsul Faison for a rookie minicamp tryout. Kamara, 30, remains the oldest in the bunch and the most likely to part ways with New Orleans.
