The Boston Bruins hired Marco Sturm as their new head coach this season, and in his first year on the job, he led the team to a playoff berth.

Boston wasn’t projected to make the playoffs this season, but the Bruins exceeded expectations and reached 100 points in Sturm’s first season. It was a good job done by Sturm, and Bruins President Cam Neely was ecstatic with the job Sturm did. “I think he did a remarkable job, to be honest with you,” Neely said on Wednesday .

"It’s not an easy job to be a head coach in the National Hockey League, especially in a market like ours. But he had played here, so he knew what the expectations were. Until you go through it, you don’t really know what you’re going through.

” Bruins general manager Don Sweeney, meanwhile, said he was ‘proud’ of Sturm and the job the entire coaching staff did this season. “The coaches obviously did a really, really commendable job,” Sweeney said. “Really proud of Marco in terms of all the things he was faced with, challenges and realizing how much greater is on his plate as a head coach.
