Patriots newcomer revealed biggest strength that outshines limitations
Patriots linebacker K.J. Britt is sure of his capabilities as a football player despite whatever athletic shortcomings he might have.
New England Patriots linebacker K. J. Britt relies on more than just the physical gifts that he has to produce on the field.
According to The Athletic's Chad Graff, Britt stated before the media on Tuesday that he's a "football player," despite not being an athletic marvel. āI might not be the fastest, I might not be the strongest ⦠But Iām a football player," Britt said. Britt has found ways to produce for the teams that he's played for in his four seasons in the NFL.
The Alabama native became more of a focal point in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ' defense in 2023 after being drafted by the team with the No. 176 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Britt started in 16 of the 47 games that he played for Tampa Bay and the Miami Dolphins from 2023-2025.
The Auburn product recorded at least 29 total tackles in each of the last three seasons and registered a career-high 72 tackles in 2024 for Tampa Bay. He also combined for three tackles for loss and two passes defensed in that span. The Patriots stand to gain from having Britt produce meaningfully behind starting linebackers Christian Elliss and Robert Spillane next season.
