From Highland High School to Utah, Caleb Lomy has exceeded every challenge put in front of him with uncommon athleticism and an unrelenting drive to improve.

Caleb Lomu wasn’t dreaming of draft day, getting a phone call that would change his life. Just six years ago, his big football aspiration was simple. He wanted to play defensive end for Highland High School next to his friend and neighbor, Fisher Camac.

Back then, his coaches saw the raw potential and unique athletic ability. They knew they had something potentially special . But Lomu didn’t feel the same.

The sophomore out of Gilbert, Arizona, admitted he didn’t take the sport seriously. “He didn’t want to play offensive line,” Highland offensive line coach Bill Critchfield said. “I said, ‘Look, if you play offensive line for me, then I will let you play defensive end with Fisher.

’ And so I kind of bribed him with that. And he was unsure of that. He thought offensive line was stupid, and he wanted to get his name in the paper.
